Signed later half-maroquin, spine with 4 nerves decorated with cold filets, author, title and place of edition gilt, date on tail. Minor flaws to endpaper. Jean-Joseph-Etienne Poutet (1779, Roquevaire – 1858), pharmacist and chemist, was a member of the Académie de Marseille from 1812 and elected deputy correspondent of the Académie de médecine for the pharmacy section from 1825 to 1828. This memoir was published a year before his Traité sur l’art de perfectionner le sirop et le sucre de raisin. Uncommon.
