First French translation of the Tuzuk-i Timur by the orientalist Louis-Mathieu Langlès, who was behind the creation of the Ecole des Langues Orientales and the first holder of the Persian language chair at Lakanal’s request (decree of 10 germinal year III). Preceded by a biography of Tamerlan, spiritual descendant of Genghis Khan, who reconstituted the ancient Mongol empire through his numerous conquests. A very fine, carefully bound copy.
