First edition. This book was awarded the Grand Prix Gobert by the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres in 1854. By Charles Weiss, born in Strasbourg in 1812, died in 1867. Academic and professor of history at the Royal Colleges of Toulouse and Strasbourg and at the Lycée Bonaparte in Paris. Former student at the Protestant Gymnasium in Strasbourg.
