Complete file on the bookbinder’s trade, taken from one of the eleven volumes of illustrations printed between 1762 and 1782 of “L’Encyclopédie ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts & des métiers, par une Société de Gens de lettres” by Diderot and d’Alembert. In folio, consisting of a page of explanations of the plates, followed by the plates engraved by Benard: pl. I: “Patissier, Tour à Pâte, Bassines, Mortier & c” pl. II: “Patissier, Tourtieres, Moules, Gaufrier, Pèles & c” These represent the tools used by pastry chefs. The vignette on plate I shows pastry chefs at work. Some minor foxing.
