Paris, s.n., 1786. 40 pp. Vintage green cardboard with titled spine comprising three books in one volume. Jeanne de Luz, de Saint R\u00e9my, de Valois, comtesse de La Motte became famous for the affair of Marie-Antoinette’s necklace and her influence over Cardinal de Rohan. In her Memoirs, published in London where she had taken refuge, she formally accuses Marie-Antoinette of complicity in the affair. This pamphlet, the entire edition of which was bought back at a high price by the French Court, was nevertheless reprinted several times under a different title, “Vie de la Comtesse de La Motte”. Joints split, one booklet of the second memoir partly unbound. Very fresh inside. Rare set. <\/p>\n
